Kenny’s Creek av $3673It was a good day for buyers at last weeks annual Autumn Kenny’s Creek Angus bull sale as rates stayed low and most buyers got the bulls they were looking for at affordable prices. In all 40 of 47 bulls topped at $6500 to average $3673. The top bull was sold to Rob Stein ( manager), “Kameruka”, Bega, for $6500 in a draft of five bulls he bought averaging $3750. The top bull was Kenny’s Creek Warwick D23, a son of Booroomooka Warwick W245, reported as a good tight sheathed heifer bull, with +96 for 600 day, +3.1 for eye muscle area and +1.3 Intra muscular fat percentage. Mr Stein said he was looking for bulls with good birth weights, as he had a lot of heifers to join this year due to bad seasons and offloading older females.
“I wanted bulls with good birth weights with their figures up to 600 day weight in good ranges, combined with milk, EMA ad IMF to breed steers for the feedlots at 400 kilograms,’ he said. Bellwodd Grazing Pty Ltd, Goulburn, paid $5500 for a balanced son of Ardrossan Modest W107 who was positive for ENA and IMF and +$103 for long fed $Index. But it was a day for the volume buyers with seven of the 18 buyers snapping up three or more bulls, led by Mt Fyans Black Angus, Darlington, Victoria, paying $4500 for two bulls and $3500 for a third. Strong return buyer Lerida Pastoral Company, Goulburn, averaged $3438 for four bulls, while Ian Hughes, “Huntley”, Weston, ACT, paid to $5000 also for a son of Booroomooka Warwick W245 in a draft of four bulls averaging $3688. In the wrap up CT Cleverdon, “Clevelands”, Harden, averaged three at $2750, BP and JM Tuohey, Serpentine, Vic, got three at $3167 and Poyako Pty Ltd, Young, finished the sale with three at $3417.
