Solid result at Kenny’s Creek

STRONG return cliental produced a solid sale for the team at Kenny’s Creek Angus last week, with 56 of 65 bulls topping at $8000 twice to average $4333.

The demand from buyers looking for solid commercial bulls, with good growth and frame matched with equivalent EBV figures was the catalyst for the solid sale.

The top priced bulls were split at $8000 a piece with Claire Paradise, Scone Pastoral Company, Wingen, taking the first of the two with another sire for $5500 in the first two lots of the sale.

He was Kenny’s Creek Unlimited C12, a son of Te Mania Unlimited U3271, who went back to Scotchcap on the dam side and top 10 per cent for eye muscle area, intra mucular fat percentage and Milk.

The second of the top bulls was Kenny’s Creek Eclipse C866 at +5.8 birth weight, +86 and +114 for 400 and 600 day, +4.3 EMA, +1.9 IMF and +$117 for long fed Indexes.

The bull was bought by Kevin and Lyn Piper, Old Fairview Angus, Tumut, who came looking for a Papa Equator son but couldn’t find one to suit.

Angus Beef - Kenny's CreekThe Piper’s really looked at the bulls for size and depth and they must have a good 400 day as they turn weaners off at eight to nine months averaging 350kg for steers and 320kg for heifers – previously topping the Adelong weaner sales.

For the second day in a row Andrew King, “Romani Pastoral Company”, Harden, put a solid floor in the bull market paying to $7000 for six productive sires to average $5500 for their various places.

Vale View Pty Ltd, “Vale View”, Yass, bought two easy calving heifer bulls by Ardrossan Modest W107 for $5000 and $6500 in the top 10pc for IMF and Milk.

GM and S Bramley, Foxground NSW, snapped up one of stud principal Nick Burton Taylors top picks Kenny’s Creek Eclipse C555 for $7000, while Jude De Silva, “Tara“, Boorowa, paid $7500 for a curve bending Papa Equator son with high growth and strong carcase potential.

The Herd family, Crookwell, paid $7000 and $4500 for two bulls, while return clients Lerida Pastoral Company, “Lerida”, Gunning, averaged four at $3750, Baringa Rural Enterprises, Braidwood averaged four at $3500 and A W Ranken, “Lockersleigh”, Goulburn, rounded out the sale with three bulls at $3667.

The sale was conducted by Elders with Andy McGeoch and Steve Ridley as auctioneers.
