Wet and cold is about the only way to describe the winter. I got excited on Wednesday when the sun was out but it still did not crack double figures.
Next week we are getting all the bulls in for our Beef Week Open Day on Tuesday. Please come and join us if you are able.
Catalogues will be out at the beginning of the month, please let us know if you did not receive one last year and would like one.
We will be selling in this years Bull Sale 50 commercial P cows with calves at foot by Dunoon Prime Minister P758. Details to follow.

DUNOON PRIME MINISTER P758
The first of our Dunoon Prime Minister calves hits the ground at Hillgrove this week. Our first two calvings to drop this week have been 18 days early and have weighed 25 and 28kg.
It has been an extraordinary run for feeder steers. It seemed to us that the $5 and $5.40 mark would be barriers but demand has stayed strong. It has not been too much fun on the feedlotting side with wet conditions but the domestic and export markets seem to have stood up to the challenge. Graphs above from Simon Quilty at AgriTrends who stills sees the marketing strengthening through until November (at least).
AUGUST TO OCTOBER FORECAST - WET!

Brazil and Argentina exports are down (Brazil down 3.6% and Argentina down 6.6%) and demand is up. China is leading the charge on buying
Japans economy seems to be struggling with negative growth and trim imports are higher as they bring in more trim as other beef products are seemingly too expensive
The USA is still sending a lot to China which has offset the Australian beef export slump.

CARBON
A sign of the times? Consumer companies taking a public stance on carbon. What will this mean for our farms and how we measure carbon?
Cases are on the rise with Delta virus (as we all well know)
Interestingly despite the increase in Delta cases the corresponding deaths per 100K has not yet trended up. Look at the UK in the second graph. Is that the vaccination numbers or the morbidity of the Delta virus keeping deaths low?

DOG FOOD V'S PLANT BASED MEAT
We are watching Wyangla Dam closely. This week it has gone from 80% to 89%. Below is Lachlan River at full throttle on Thursday.
